Wendy joined the CFPP family on day ONE and has been working hard ever since. The trainers have noticed a surge in her performance and abilities in teh past few months, most notably, her dogged determination to learn kipping pullups, which she has done. Wendy is like a juggernaut that moves through each workout with detemination, integrity and grit. She never skips a rep, she always burns out every last ounce of energy, and her trend on all of her movements from pullups to snatches has been on a constant upward path. We are very proud to name Wendy the first AOM in 2011, and look forward to continuing to help her achieve her fitness goals. Here are a few words from Wendy:
About My Family:
I live in Loveland with my husband, Doug and my dog, Milo, an 8 year old Shih-Tzu.
How I was introduced to CrossFit:
I was between gyms as a result of mine closing down. I saw Alicia and she invited me to try Crossfit in her backyard. I agreed to try it for a month and see how it goes. 2 1/2 Years later I have worked up from 2x a week to 4 or more.
My favorite WOD/exercise is:
I love lunges. Pat made a wod for me awhile back I named Goldolocks because it was just right for me. 50′ Lunges, 25 GHD’s, 500M Row 4rds for time.
My nemesis exercise is:
Anything high cardio. Burpees on the minute make me want to murder someone. I also have to say rope climb. I succeeded once but it has not been something I’ve been able to repeat.
Outside of the gym, I like to:
I spend a lot of time volunteering at church. I am also a professional handbell musician and ring with a community ensemble named, Queen City Bronze.
My favorite Cheat food is:
Too many to name- I love junkfood and pizza. Part of why I workout.
My proudest accomplishment is:
My first rope climb was a pretty awesome day. Successive kipping pullups was pretty awesome too- last attempt was 7. Generally speaking, since the summer, I’ve been coming into every workout feeling confident that I can succeed (which wasn’t always the case). I love being able to do exercise at a level at which not a lot of people in my circle of friends can compete.
My six month goal is:
Waiting to be written formally after I attend the upcoming goal setting workshop on the 9th. I’d like to be better at push-ups. I have a lovely plank form but can’t do very many in succession before dropping to my knees.
If you created a WOD and named it after yourself what would the workout be?
Gosh I’m not good at making these up…. How about 4 rounds? 50′ Walking Lunges arms overhead
20 push presses
50 sit ups or GHD’s
20 KBS
100 Jump rope
What do you love the most about Power Performance?
The community- I tried working out on my own and just wasn’t very successful. I like the motivation from working out with friends and finding some friendly competition and support. It’s great that athletes who finish ahead of you stay and cheer you on to finish. Someone always has a ‘great job’ or fist bump of support.
